Hernán Eduardo Pinto Miranda was a Chilean lawyer, politician and member of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC). He served as the Mayor of Valparaíso, Chile’s second largest city, from March 1990 to March 1992 and again from September 26, 1992, until December 6, 2004. Under Pinto, Valparaíso was declared Chile’s “Cultural Capital” in May 2003 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2003. He died of complications related to the coronavirus on July 29, 2020.
